Amazing that the temps on the Front Range exceeded 60 degrees today, but that created an opportunity for a great day of riding. I had about four hours of office work this morning, but upon finishing.... Tyler and I mounted our bikes and blew away from the house for some errands and lunch.... and to meet Audra at Starbucks for a coffee after she got off work.
My poor VStrom has been sitting in the garage for the past 4 months, without a mile of riding. There was a weird sound coming from the engine area and I knew I had to fix it before I could ride the bike. I simply haven't had the time and the sound was, quiet honestly a mystery. I couldn't locate it. This morning, between business calls, Tyler and I tried to figure it out. After five minutes of investigation, it turned out to be a spacer washer that was loose and creating a terrible racket at about 5,500 rpm's.
Audra and I were originally going to ski on Saturday, but when the alarm went off at 5am..... We turned off the alarm, rolled over and went back to sleep. We were just too tired to get up early and make the trip. As everyone can imagine, I found a reason to "run some errands". Yep, "errands" always includes a motorcycle. Today the errands included a lot of local riding, with a quick stop by Sam's Club and Apex Power Sports. Mainly, I just rode. It was nice to toodle through Garden of the Gods and for the first time in many months, I increased my heart rate making a fast, peg scraping run up the canyon toward Woodland Park. Besides the curves, the other cars and a couple of cops kept it interesting.
The bikes ran great and it was wonderful to ride with Tyler. It created a desire in us to make a trip.
